Express yourself

Performing arts unite people, spark creativity, and build a confidence that filters into all areas of life.

Throughout your time at Leighton Park you’ll have plenty of opportunities to act, dance, sing, produce and try a huge number of musical instruments.

Beyond the stage, you can dive into the world of production, with hands-on experience in our state of the art digital recording and editing suites. Take a look around our MMC building, an inspiring space that houses our main performance hall plus industry-standard tech and facilities–including our Yamaha Live Lounge Recording Studio.

Music

We’re thrilled to be a recognised as one of the UK’s very best schools for music in the prestigious Outstanding School Music Department Award from the Music & Drama Education Awards 2025.

Our students hold first and second place in the national Independent Schools Association Awards for both Music Performance and Composition.

We encourage music for all, whether you’re an absolute beginner or aspiring to study at a Conservatoire or pursue a musical career. More than 60% of our students learn at least one instrument, guided by our 27 dedicated teachers. Many have even won awards for their compositions and performances.

And if you’re a musical Sixth Former, explore our Austin Bursary Awards – you may be eligible for funding.

Music Tech

Music Tech is a big deal at Leighton Park, reflected in the fact that our students have won top place in at least one age category in the national ISA Composition Competition every year for the last five years.

You’ll benefit from our partnerships with Yamaha, Sontronics and Steinberg. Produce new music in our Live Lounge recording studios or two specialist composition studios. Use industry-standard microphones and software and make the most of the fact that we’re a Steinberg Certified Training Partner.

Music Tech is one is a hugely popular co-curricular activity at Leighton Park but students can also go on to study Music Tech A Levels or advance their passion for music technology as part of IB Diploma Music.

Drama

If you’re an aspiring actor, come and tread the boards in our two professional-standard drama studios and 500-seat performance space.

You’ll have the chance to take part in several exciting productions throughout the year, from plays and adaptations to full-scale musicals.

And if you’d like to take formal qualifications, you can do these through Lamda or Trinity, or take GCSE or A Level Drama as part of your options.

Dance

We have a thriving offering in dance with three specialist dance teachers. As well as academic qualifications at GCSE and A Level, we have our own Dance Company, called LooP. We also offer National Association of Teachers of Dance qualifications, with our students frequently gaining recognition in regional and national competitions.

Our dance studio is the perfect environment to practise, complete with barres, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and an excellent sound system.
