Reckitt House #RockTheBlue for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice

On the evening of Friday 11th June, Reckitt House donned their best blue outfits and danced their way into the weekend, in aid of the #RockTheBlue campaign for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice.

Speaking to Reckitt in the lead up, Fundraiser for Alexander Devine, Kate Wright, said “Wishing you all the best of luck this weekend in your 100 Song Danceathon Challenge! We were over the moon to hear of the news that you had chosen to support Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. The money you raise from your challenge this weekend will help us continue supporting children and families in the community. Can’t wait to see photos and hear how you got on! Have fun girls and don’t forget, KEEEEEP DANCING!”

Needing the stamina to get through 100 songs, the group came up with a number of dynamic ways to get the most out of the initiative, from karaoke to conga.

Amie Cull, Acting Housemistress, commented “The girls enjoyed using Just Dance with our karaoke machine to dance at full volume! They were also most kind in making sure all moves for me were pregnancy safe; they were paranoid we may have an early labour!”

She continued, “We had so much fun. It made the girls really aware of the cause and made us all reflect on how lucky we are to be able to take dancing for granted, and how much joy music and movement brings to us.”

Throughout 2020, Alexander Devine’s services were severely impacted by the pandemic. Despite this, they continued to be there for families by providing over 5000 hours of respite. The #RockTheBlue campaign honours 8-year-old Alexander Devine. His favourite colour and animal, the dolphin, also form part of the charity’s logo.

Stopping by on Friday night, Natasha Coccia Assistant Head: Director of Outreach, enthused “There was a great atmosphere in the House!” Starting as they meant to go on, on Sunday the girls celebrated with smoothies and ice-cream.
