Supporting Red Balloon

Red Balloon is a local charity that provides full or part-time therapeutic care and education for up to 24 young people who are aged between 11-16.

These students have found mainstream education particularly challenging and Red Balloon helps students to regain their self-esteem and confidence. They have had different educational experiences and most have not had access to formal education for some time. The group work with students to help them understand their own emotions, behaviour and to develop social skills.

We were delighted to welcome Christine Pepper Deputy Head, Pastoral from the charity on Monday 18th March who talked to students in collect about the work the charity does in Reading. Students were inspired to collaborate with Red Balloon Reading to further the school’s partnership with the charity and were keen to establish a long term relationship by working across all departments and provide access to Leighton Park School facilities. Students were pleased to provide Christine with a cheque of money raised by Amicus and LP in the last Mufti Day and Saint Valentine Roses appeal.
