The Extra 1% Sports Scholars Seminar

This week, our Sports Scholars were treated to a winning habits seminar from Go Perform, our local sports performance and injury centre, comprised of an expert team and specialist equipment.

On Thursday morning, Physiotherapist, Sarah Holmes and Head of Performance, Tristan Baker delivered the session, entitled ‘The Extra 1%’. The group explored what makes a winning team, and individual lifestyle habits that contribute to success both in sport and life.

Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury, commented “Thanks to Go Perform for hosting such an informative seminar, we really learnt a lot. Our scholars will be able to take a great deal from the session, not just into their sporting work but also their school work and going forward into adult life.”

Charlotte in Year 11, reflect “The seminar at Go Perform was very interesting and encouraging for me as a young athlete. I learnt many new tips and why to put in that extra effort for my sport. I really like how we are able to use Go Perform as Sports Scholars, it has helped me massively with my fitness and wellness, and has prepared me overall for my future career in sports as I am aiming to play rugby for England. I like how we have one-to-one sessions, as well as the seminars with everyone!”

In 2017, Go Perform first began to support our Sports Scholars with regular physiotherapy assessments throughout the year. This relationship has since developed to provide all our elite athletes in the Advance Performer Programme (APP) with these sessions, together with educational seminars, such as this one, and sports science support.
