On Tuesday 12th November the U14 boys and girls hockey teams travelled to Ashford HC to play in an ISA hockey tournament against other schools from around the country. The girls had a slow start to the day with some goalless draws and a loss in the group stage. This put them through to the plate competition. After a good win and then another tough game, they ended up runners up in the plate competition.
The boys had a similarly slow start to the day with more goalless draws, but managed to pick up 2 back to back wins with goals from Oli, James and Kabir. The final match of the day saw them playing Thorpe Hill, who were also unbeaten. Tom snuck a goal in early and the boys were ahead for most of the game until Thorpe Hill found an equaliser. Resolute defending allowed another goal scoring opportunity for James, who put away the winner in fine style in the form of a penalty corner. The LP boys finished unbeaten at the top of the ladder and won the cup.
A huge mention has to go to our goalkeeper Oli who was awarded player of the tournament by the officials for his sublime shot stopping abilities, and for only conceding 1 goal all day! All the boys have been offered high % discounts on a prestigious residential summer hockey camp at Seaford College over the summer of 2020.
