Vitality Netball Nations Cup

An exhilarating day unfolded as Leighton Park students from Year 8 through to Sixth Form travelled to the iconic OVO Arena Wembley, to witness the inaugural matches of the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the Aussie Diamonds secured the first victory of the series by outplaying the New Zealand Silver Ferns with a commanding 63-50 triumph in a fast-paced showdown.

The pinnacle of the day’s events for our students came with the eagerly awaited appearance of the Vitality England Roses, who emerged triumphant in a hard-fought contest against the Uganda She Cranes. The closely contested match culminated in a thrilling 62-56 win for the Roses. Year 10 student, Julia, celebrated “I really enjoyed the day and getting to watch England win in a live netball match, it was a lot of fun!”

Lower Sixth student, Taya, reflected “I’m going to get more of my friends to come and watch next year, as I had a great time and learnt some new skills by watching the netball matches, which I’m going to try out in the LP senior netball team.”

The students and staff particularly rallied behind England Netball player Ellie Rattu, who had previously coached our Netball players during the Pre-Season Netball at the onset of this Spring Term. Witnessing her remarkable performance as part of the England Roses team added an extra layer of excitement.
