On Monday and Tuesday, audiences were treated to the student-directed, one-act musical, 21 Chump Street! Delivered impeccably by the Year 10 to Upper Sixth cast, everyone was in fits of giggles for its entire 14 minute duration. What’s more, the affair was all in aid of raising money for a local charity!
Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, 21 Chump Street is based on the story by Robbie Brown which originally appeared on This American Life. It is a comical but cautionary tale about a student who will do anything for his new crush.
Oscar in Year 10 commented “It was so enjoyable, and I’d definitely do it again if I have the chance! For this production, I was controlling the lighting and sound. I have been working with music for a long time, so I knew most of what I needed to for the sound aspect, though this is one of my first times using lighting. I developed these skills by practicing during the rehearsals. It was easier knowing what kind of lighting I needed when other people where there.”
