Our two productions entered for the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Drama Competition were performed at The Whitty Theatre, Wokingham, on Saturday 14th March to a band of supportive parents and other enthusiastic competitors.
Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ performed by Fryer students, in the Middle School category, was a magical piece of theatre and everyone involved performed brilliantly. The actors were the youngest competing on the day and they each communicated the humour and wit of every scene with panache and gusto.
‘Extra Time’ was written by Year 10 student Sam Rowe with Theatre Graduate Dan Scott last year. For the competition the play was developed to include three more actors. There was a rapt audience throughout but in the final scenes they were absolutely silent and ‘in the moment’. Head of Drama, Peter Scoggins, commented “This was an impressive performance of a play by our own talent at Leighton Park. What more could we ask for?”
Also last weekend students from Leighton Park were able to participate in the Woodley Festival’s Speech, Drama and Poetry recitations. It was great to see Edward winning Gold for his Sight Reading.
