Leighton Park Schools’ annual cross-country event, a highly anticipated competition for House points, commenced on Friday 6th October, with all of the students and many of LP’s staff participating! The event consisted of Fryers taking on 2km, Year 9 and 10 tackling 3.7km, and Year 11, Sixth Form, and staff challenging their stamina to 5.5km!
In the third House event of 2023, students and staff were dressed proudly in their House colours, with our Fryers in plain white ready to be splashed with colours of all kinds in their colour run race. The extra element of powdered paint fun for our younger students, was enthusiastically delivered by our Sixth Form CTECH students. Abby (Year 8), who emerged as the Year 8 Girls’ winner, expressed “Running with my friends was really fun!”. Similarly, George (Year 7) shared his enthusiasm, commenting “The atmosphere was great! I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
Every child and staff member competing gained a point for their respective House. Additionally, those who achieved remarkable finishing times were awarded extra points, while points were subtracted where participation was absent. The entire School community is now eagerly waiting for the end of term to see which House will be awarded the crown for the most cross-country points! The event exemplifies Leighton Park’s commitment to sport, to community and a sense of belonging for all at the School.
