Anti-Bullying Week

Each year, Anti-Bullying Week provides students the opportunity to reflect on how they can actively prevent bullying in and out of school. In recognition of this year’s focus, ‘One Kind Word’, the School’s Year 11 Anti-Bullying Ambassador Team visited their peers during Tutor Time to spread the message.

“The students in Year 11 have been wonderful in their planning and preparation for the activities. They devised the PSHE session on ‘One Kind Word’ and contributions have been displayed around the School.” commented PSHE Co-Ordinator and Head of Year 9, Sally Saunders.

Whilst discussing the topic with one of our student ambassadors, each Tutor Group contributed their handprints, inscribed with ‘One Kind Word’ from everyone.

Anti-Bullying Ambassador, Harriet, commented “The visits went well, and I think the students in Fryer really benefited from the activity in terms of developing their friendships!”

Pastoral Intervention Practitioner, Rachel Webb, has also recently been recognised for the time and support that she gives to the community. This Anti-Bullying Week, Rachel was delighted to find out that she had been nominated for a School Staff Award.

Martha Evans from the Anti-Bullying Alliance, commented “This is the sixth year we have held an award for teachers who go beyond the call of duty to support children with issues such as bullying, family life, relationships and health… being nominated by pupils shows what a positive impact they must be having in school and how much they are appreciated.”

“Rachel has played such a key role in supporting and championing the work of our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.” congratulated Sally.
