This week, Leighton Park School has been celebrating the richness of global cultures through our much-anticipated International Week, running from Monday 10th to Friday 14th February. The event has been a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of diversity, unity, and the shared experiences that bind us together as a community.
Throughout the week, we have come together in our Collects to explore the significance of diversity, with a focus on how different cultures contribute to the vibrant community we are proud to be a part of. Our discussions have highlighted the power of cultural exchange, understanding, and mutual respect.
On Wednesday, the Oakview dining hall was filled with the sounds of music from around the world, as students and staff shared a curated collection of pieces that celebrate global sounds. The event was complemented by a selection of international dishes carefully prepared by our catering team, giving everyone the chance to try flavours from various corners of the globe, with a new theme each day of the week.
Finally, Friday featured our International Dress Day, where students were encouraged to embrace traditional attire or wear sports jerseys representing national teams. The day was a colourful display of cultural pride and creativity, with many students and staff showcasing their heritage through vibrant and thoughtful outfits. The occasion also gave everyone an opportunity to learn more about one another’s backgrounds, fostering a greater sense of appreciation for the diverse community we belong to.
As part of our ongoing commitment to celebrate cultural diversity, we are grateful to the parents who generously shared their experiences and knowledge with our students throughout the week. Their contributions have truly enriched the experience for everyone involved.
As we wrap up International Week, we look forward to continuing our journey of learning, understanding, and embracing the diversity that makes Leighton Park such a special place to learn and grow. Deputy Head Boy and organiser of LP International Week, Anis, said “Thank you to the International Week committee and the whole school for helping and embracing the week that we have worked so hard on! It’s been extremely rewarding to see everyone enjoy and engage in the event. I can’t wait to see where this goes in the next few years!”
