Christmas Dinner Delights

Sixth Formers transformed from business dress to elegant suits and glamorous dresses for the Sixth Form Christmas Dinner, held on Friday 8th December. As a festive prelude to the last week of term, LP staff embraced the playful role of waiting on the students in their catering aprons, serving an exquisite menu to our students. 

The wonderful menu, crafted and prepared by Leighton Park’s incredible caterers, Thomas Franks Ltd, did not disappoint. Starters kicked off a fabulous meal with the choice of crispy fried goat cheese with celeriac rémoulade and herb salad or confit duck leg, stir fry vegetable, crispy seaweed and hoisin and honey dressing. The main course came with the difficult decision between roast turkey, pan-fried seabass or butternut squash, spinach pancake, polenta chips and gruyere sauce. When you didn’t think they would have room for anymore, dessert satisfied those with a sweet tooth with dark chocolate and orange fondant with clotted cream or pear and ginger tart crumble served with Christmas homemade ice cream. 

After filling up on the wonderful warming feast, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as awards were announced. Nominations ranging from ‘Most likely to win the Olympics’ to ‘Most likely to be late to their own wedding’, sparked uproars of laughter, with twenty-two awards distributed to winning individuals. Co-ordinators of the event, Helen Taylor (Director of Sixth Form) and Richard Duckett (Assistant Head of Sixth Form) exclaimed respectively, “The highlight of the night was seeing the students all dressed up and looking fabulous, the whole evening had a lovely happy Christmas vibe” and “It had such a nice atmosphere with everyone enjoying themselves. It was such fun!”.  

The festive celebrations continued with entertaining Christmas games involving both students and staff, creating lasting memories. The joyous occasion eventually drew to a close, leaving everyone with shared festive memories of a splendid Sixth Form Dinner.
