We were delighted to host our Berkshire Girls’ Football Tournament sponsored by YouHQ for the second year in a row, the only Girls’ Football Tournament in Berkshire, created by Head of Football at Leighton Park, Callum Beasley. It was the perfect close to our Co-Ed Sport Festival Week.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s event, we were delighted to expand the tournament and welcome even more schools to Ten Acre Field. It was a pleasure to host teams from Bohunt, Holme Grange, Holyport, LVS, Pangbourne, Sherfield, and St Joseph’s for an exciting afternoon of football.
The tournament featured competitive matches across two age groups, U13 and U15. Leighton Park’s U13 Red Team delivered a fantastic performance, finishing as runners-up in the Cup. Our U13 Yellow Team secured 3rd place in the Plate after a dramatic 2-0 win on penalties. In the U15 category, the LP Reds earned 3rd in the Cup, while the LP Yellows also claimed 3rd in the Plate.
Callum Beasley enthused: “It’s such a brilliant event to put on for all these girls who just love to play Football. No matter if they win or lose their games, everyone just looks like they’re enjoying themselves so much and that is what it is all about. This tournament provides an invaluable platform for young footballers from across Berkshire to compete, connect, and grow in confidence. It was also great to host our first Boys’ Tournament on Tuesday and I am positive that both tournaments will continue to grow even further over the years”.
We are also proud to be the first Senior School to partner with Her Game Too, a charity dedicated to promoting girls in sport, cementing our focus on the development of young female footballers.
