Concerto Concert Kicks Off our Musical Year

The first concert of the 2024-25 academic year took off in Main Hall on Wednesday 2nd October with our talented soloists and the LP String Ensemble delivering a superb Concerto Concert. There were four pieces across the evening and students elected to play one movement from each of their chosen concertos.

The audience were delighted to hear pieces on the violin, oboe, trombone and cello accompanied by the String Ensemble.

The week continued with another celebration of musical talent on Friday lunchtime with the first of this year’s lunchtime concerts in the Upper Foyer. The performers have a chance to play to a smaller crowd than in the Main Hall which can be an excellent opportunity to trial new pieces and original compositions.

Music is a real strength of the school with 27 peripatetic  music teachers and over 50% of students learning at least one instrument. Every year a handful of Sixth Formers successfully achieve places at prestigious music conservatoires. We are the only school in Europe to be a Yamaha Education Partner and have relationships with industry specialists such as Sontronics microphones and music tech company Steinberg, for whom we are a certified training centre.
