From the antiquities at the V&A to the cutting edge of the Design Museum, the Art Department were glad to be back in the capital and soaking up fresh inspiration with Year 10 on Wednesday 25th May.
Ahead of the Platinum Jubilee, the year group has been considering ‘what or who shapes taste and culture?’ Keen to grow their contextual knowledge and appreciation of art and creativity, The V&A and the Design Museum offered food for thought.
Throughout the day, material was gathered in the form of photographs and sketches of the artworks, shapes and surfaces from direct observation.
The John Madejski Garden at the V&A provided the perfect spot for lunch before commencing a walk to the Design Museum. “The Design Museum is devoted to contemporary design, with an opportunity to observe a new exhibition by the designer Bethany Williams, whose work is known for embracing the discussion of social and environmental issues.” commented Head of Art, Mark Wood.
