On Friday 21st June, Dance students enjoyed a Dance workshop from professional, Tara Choudrie. Tara trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is currently completing an Masters Degree in Dance at Rambert.
Students were really fortunate to work with Tara developing their dance technique. The workshop allowed them to realise how important strength and control are in order to make the movement aesthetically pleasing. When students have the opportunity to work intensively with a visiting dance artist it is really clear to see how they can hone in on specific skills and work out ways of improving them.
Dance enthusiast, Charlie (Year 7) commented on the workshop: “I really liked the ballet technique we learnt at the start of the class. It made me really think about my posture”. Amy (Year 11) also found the workshop to be incredibly beneficial, stating: “Having the opportunity to develop some of the movement material in the first half of the class was really useful as I am about to start choreographing my GCSE piece. It got me to think about how key action words can be a stimulus for action, space and dynamics.”
By offering regular external opportunities for our students, we allow their education to flourish through new experiences to further our students’ passions.
