Design Technology (DT) students were wowed by the inspirational exhibition in London this week as they encountered innovative product designs created by graduates from some of the leading UK universities.
Set in the Islington Business Design Centre ‘New Designers’ is a show focussing on the unusual, the innovative and the aesthetic of design from up and coming design talent across the country. The opportunity for industry employers, product buyers and trend influencers to interact with the latest range of ideas and the people who dreamt them is also a chance for our students to see what can be achieved with some practical skill and plenty of imagination.
Our Lower Sixth DT cohort together with a number of Year 11s committed to beginning their A Level course next year visited the second week of the exhibition on Wedenesday 6th July. This week offers a programme of displays including Furniture, Product & Industrial & Spatial Design, Graphic Design, Illustration & Animation and Motion & Digital Arts. According to the New Designers website the show ‘represents the future of design and creativity’ quoting Heal’s Product and Design Manager, Kirsty Whyte, who says “New Designers is a key graduate exhibition. Nowhere else has such high calibre graduates under one roof. It’s perfect for spotting future design talent and not to be missed.”
