On Friday 14th March 2025, Leighton Park proudly celebrated the European Day of Music in Schools (EuDaMus), an international event that highlights the importance of music education and unites Europe through the universal language of music. This annual celebration honours the rich and diverse musical traditions across Europe, where each nation has its own unique musical treasures.
As part of this vibrant celebration, Leighton Park’s Orchestra took centre stage during Collect, captivating the audience with iconic pieces from ‘Batman’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. This performance provided a thrilling preview of our upcoming Movies and Musicals concert. The orchestra was accompanied by dramatic lighting, which gave the performance the feel of a professional pit orchestra, while dynamic graphics synced with the music enhanced the overall experience.
EuDaMus, the organisation behind the day, offers an interactive map on their website that allows users to explore how music is celebrated in schools across Europe, by clicking on each country. We are delighted that Leighton Park appears when the United Kingdom is selected. You can explore this interactive map here.
The day marked a wonderful opportunity to honour both music as a core part of our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach and the celebration of Sound for Soul, our musical wellbeing initiative. This initiative focuses on the positive impact that music can have on mental and emotional wellbeing, emphasising how music nurtures both the mind and the soul.
