Fundraising Total for Ukraine Over £8K!

On Thursday 24th March Year 7 parent, Raluca Valeanu, met with three Sixth Form students from the school’s charity group, Amicus, to celebrate the total amount raised through the fundraising efforts to support humanitarian aid in Ukraine.  The mufti day, the cake sale at morning break, the collection buckets at the Scholars’ Concert and at Guys and Dolls final performance, all contributed to the total of over £4,000 which when matchfunded by Raluca’s employer, Microsoft, achieved an amazing £8,763.24!

Raluca commented, “Microsoft give us an opportunity to profit match, which is an amazing opportunity. I used to profit match in the past when the kids were in primary school which I know was such a big relief for the PTA to help them. I just wanted to continue helping as much as I can. Now that my son is here at Leighton Park of course I want to help the community where he is on such a regular basis and Leighton Park choose such great charities  and now it’s about Ukraine so of course I am in touch with everything that is going on there.”

Bernadette (Lower Sixth) commented, “It’s obvious that in the current situation people need help. Also a lot of our students are from Ukraine, or from Russia, or from Europe itself, so it is really important that we support the community and also people in need there.”

Anastasija added, “Amicus is really about long term commitment for us committing to leave a legacy of LP really helping out those who are in need and supporting he community. The way we wenty about the fundraising was about teamwork, we were really able to make a lot of money in a short space of time just through group efforts and being passionate about what we do.”
