On Tuesday 18th March our Year 10 GCSE Drama students enjoyed an evening of inspiring storytelling at the theatre in Newbury as they were treated to a captivating and exhilarating performance of ‘Tess’ at The Corn Exchange. This new production weaved inventive storytelling techniques with acrobatics, dance and physical theatre.
Head of Drama, Jess Wittert van Hoogland, commented, “We were all enthralled by the creativity on stage and the physical strength of the actors combined with their elegance and skill. This work will support our analysis of live theatre as well as fuelling concepts for our own practical work.A s part of their GCSE Drama studies students have to analyse live theatre in preparation for their written exam paper. Our students will also begin their devised project in the Summer term. They will undoubtedly be keen to explore elements of physical theatre and movement to creating their own exciting new performance work.”
