The Independent Schools Association Composition Competition is designed to celebrate the art of music composition, and to encourage musical pupils to think of themselves as composers, even from a young age. The competition is in its first year and received over one hundred entries.
Judges commented that Eloise’s performance was “A sweet song in the style of Lily Allen which work very well. The elements of instrumentation are well controlled and used to good effect to create growth and tension, especially from the Bridge into the Chorus. Idiomatically accurate and an overall pleasing song, well done.”
Emily, Nikki, Joseph, Tommy and Ellie who also entered their material into the inaugural competition were delighted to have the opportunity to share their compositions with a wider audience and such an accomplished panel of judges. The musicians all performed in House Music last term and regularly participate in the series of concerts, next of which is the Soloists’ Concert tomorrow at 7:15pm in the Upper MMC Foyer.
