House Polyglot 2025

Leighton Park celebrated UK National Poetry Day with the 2025 Polyglot Poetry Prize. Together, students celebrated language and creativity in this unique annual House competition, exploring language through poetry, music, and performance. This year’s theme was Nature.

The event opened with Betsi-Enchill’s Nature is a Language We All Speak, followed by Cadbury’s Seasons, Fox’s Natural Forces and Tubman’s Human Nature. Each House brought a distinctive interpretation of the theme that captivated the audience. Tubman created a striking visual by passing string between speakers, weaving a symbolic web of human connection and the entanglements of life. Fox brought their words to life by arranging cue cards into the shape of a tree, an image that grew throughout their performance. Bentsi-Enchill took the audience on a global journey, with students embodying the experience of travelling through nature, while Cadbury combined music with poetry to mirror the changing seasons, layering voices in multiple languages.

With over forty nationalities represented among the student body, the competition showcases the richness of cultural perspectives within the community. It is a joyful reminder that language, like nature, transcends boundaries and connects us all.

We eagerly anticipate the results …
