The House spirit thrived on Thursday 8th February, as Leighton Park brought an exciting House Swim Gala, where our four House teams battled it out in the water.
With students from Year 7 through to Upper Sixth representing their house in the annual event, each age group consisted of multiple races of different styles, including backstroke, butterfly, medleys to freestyle.
The defending champions, Cadbury House, entered the event with fervour, determined to retain their title. However, it was Tubman House that surged ahead early on, establishing a commanding 3-point lead following the junior races. Back came Cadbury in the Fryer races closing the gap to just one point. With the seniors poised for their turn, the competition remained fierce, but it was Tubman House that ultimately emerged triumphant, clinching victory with an impressive 12-point lead.
Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury reflected on the event with delight. “It was fantastic to see the students representing their house and there was a wonderful atmosphere in the pool. Ultimately Tubman did have some excellent performances but the key to their victory was that they had representation in every single race proving how important participation is”.
As anticipation builds for our next House event, ‘House Music,’ we eagerly await the dynamic shifts in the leader board as all Houses vie for victory.
