On Thursday 3rd March the U15 Boys were overjoyed to win the bowl at the ISA Rugby Sevens tournament, held at Shelford Rugby Club. Coaches, Ellie Smales and Sam Bowers were delighted with the team’s efforts and determination.
The ISA commented, “We hope that all the participants, parents and staff enjoy their experience today. The competition will be close as always, schools have travelled from many parts of the country and in keeping with the ethos of ISA sport, we trust everyone will try as hard as possible while playing with a positive spirit. The real beauty of ISA sports’ provision is that whether you are an individual, in a small school, or a team in a large school, there is something for everyone.”
The following Thursday, the U13 Netball Team made their way to the ISA National Finals at Rugby School. They secured third plate in the tournament, making them our youngest team to make the nationals!
On the same day, the U18 Netball Team triumphed, coming first place in their ISA pool at the University of Nottingham. Cheering them on from the side-lines were Old Leightonians, Livvy Edwards, Rosanna Collis and Owen Say.
Captain, Nicola, reflected “We played five group matches and got through to the bowl competition of the tournament. We fought hard and managed to win the bowl. It was a great team effort, and it was really nice to have support from OLs, Livvy, Rosanna, and Owen.”
Connie continued, “We all had invaluable learning opportunities on the court. Playing against overall winners Queen Ethelburga’s and creating some great play and scoring goals against their strong side showed that we worked well as a team. Despite it being a long day, we stayed vigilant in our efforts; winning that final, to then place first in our division, was super rewarding also.”
