Over half of our new Sixth Form cohort of 49 boys and 34 girls took up the exciting opportunity to attend an Adventure Weekend to round off their first week in the Lower Sixth.
With a ferry trip over the Solent, the group landed on the Isle of Wight on Friday evening, eager to get stuck into their outdoor team building activities organised by the enthusiastic staff at PGL Little Canada.
Head of Sixth Form, Helen Taylor, commented, “The group have been fabulous this weekend and I am very happy that they have met their trip objectives so well! I have enjoyed accompanying them on their first Sixth Form adventure!”
The range of activities included kayaking, the giant swing and and a campfire on the beach – with marshmallows to toast, obviously. This was the tenth trip to the island and is a well-established tradition to ensure all new Sixth Formers get to know one another. They are also given the challenge of organising themselves throughout the trip. They did this so well that not a single instruction was required to get from the PGL Centre, to ferry, to coach and back to school!
“I enjoyed the campfire, where I got to see the sunset and watch the waves, not to mention the marshmallows!” – Annie
“We enjoyed the campfire a lot, as we got to meet new people and have fun. We also enjoyed the giant swing, with its terrifying heights. Everything was grand.” – Danielle, Antonia and Sezen
“A great chance to meet our classmates and get to know them, so there will always be a friendly face around the school.”
