Large Ensembles Sounds Spectacular!

This Wednesday saw our first concert of the year and with just a few rehearsals under their belts, the Music Department were delighted to present the ‘Large Ensembles Concert’! Five groups performed in the concert, as the event formally known as the ‘Ensembles Concert’ has been split into Large Ensembles and Small Ensembles’ Concert, with the latter scheduled for after Long Leave. The five groups involved last night were the Orchestra, Senior Choir, Fryer Voices, LP Brass & LP Strings.

The programme included a variety of musical style from Holst to Freddie Mercury. With the theme from Jaws rubbing alongside On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons there was something for everyone. Friends of Leighton Park Music kindly provided interval refreshments and the concert was a very enjoyable evening to share in the middle of Assessment Week.

“I was absolutely blown away by our incredible young musicians at tonight’s concert.” commented Rosemary Scales, Director of Music & Media, “With such a short rehearsal period, the performances and progress were simply amazing. Following the success of the Large Ensembles tonight, I can’t wait to hear what the students can produce in the Small Ensembles concert in a few weeks time.”

Parent and audience member, Becci, reflected, ‘Wow, what an evening. It is the first concert I have attended at LP and I was blown away by all the children and how well they played. Such a pleasure to be able to come and watch. Thank you all for your hard work.”
