Leighton Park School is delighted to announce that Lower Sixth Form student and Sports Scholar, Jacob, has been selected to represent his country in the upcoming Floorball World Championship qualifiers in Italy! The GB team have never previously qualified for this competition so the entire LP community will be behind Jacob hoping history will be made through this incredible opportunity.
Starting at the end of January, Jacob and the team will face off against Italy, Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, and Slovenia in a five day battle for a spot in the World Championships this April in Zurich, Switzerland in late spring!
Jacob expressed “Being selected for GB felt incredibly rewarding and almost like a relief as I had been working for over two years to achieve it”. He mentioned special thanks to the sports staff at Leighton Park who “have helped me a lot to boost my performance in the sport. Specifically, Alice Ledson [who has] given me the opportunity to participate in the Advanced Performer Programme in Strength and Conditioning; where she has been giving me tips and help to boost my strength and fitness”. Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury, was delighted by the news; commenting:”It is always great to see students playing at a high level in whatever sport they have a passion for and hopefully Jacob can inspire other students to try new sport and widen their sporting skills”.
Jacob’s preparation for this achievement has consisted of over two years of training across multiple countries, attending high skill camps. The GB U19s also travelled to Sweden last year to play in a Swedish Cup Competition and early in 2025 to Czech, playing local teams to enhance their experience.
Leighton Park is delighted to be supporting Jacob’s Floorball journey and are eagerly anticipating the results at the end of the month!
