LP’s Contemporary Dancers’ Innovative Exams

It was another ground breaking day for Dance at Leighton Park on Tuesday 14th June as the inaugural National Association of Teachers of Dance (NATD) examinations were held at Leighton Park for the very first time.

The NATD’s contemporary dance grades are a new addition to the more traditional ballet, tap, jazz and modern exams that exist in vocational dance schools and provide an opportunity for dancers to express themselves and be examined in a different style. Students from Year 7 to Year 10 have worked really hard all year preparing for these with our peripatetic Dance teacher, Anja Nash.

“We were so incredibly proud of the students who really rose to the occasion with professionalism.” Said Dance teacher, Beth Butler,  “Not one hair was out of place and they gave their all to the exam. We were taken aback with the depth of questions the examiner asked them about their individual choreographies and the challenge of the unseen amalgamation. Students took this in their stride and answered in detail. We wait with anticipation for their results. A huge well done to all involved.”
