Leighton Park Dance students were not disappointed by the genius of Matthew Bourne, travelling to Sadler’s Wells, London on Thursday 5th December to see Swan Lake.
To expand their Dance education beyond the realms of the syllabus, Dance students from all year groups enjoyed the “audacious reinvention” of the classic Ballet. Dance Teacher, Beth Butler, relayed “His creative modern twist using the original Tchaikovsky score for Swan Lake was breathtaking. Students were mesmerised by the beauty and strength of the male swans.”
Students echoed their amazement with Year 8 student, Akshay, expressing “It was really inspiring to see professional male dancers. I have new ideas for my own choreography’ and Carlotta (Year 11) alongside Kemi (Upper Sixth) commenting “I really enjoyed this theatre trip watching live dance I loved the sparkle and glitter of the costumes”, “It was incredible. The dancers make it look so easy”.
