This week and last Year 11s have been preparing for life beyond GCSEs through a series of individual mock interviews with careers support provider, Morrisby. Morrisby offer tests to assess aptitudes, preferences and possible future routes for individual students. As a follow up to these assessments Head of Careers, Sally Saunders, has set up an online meeting for each student in Year 11 to discuss the profiles which have been generated by the tests with a professional. Students have the chance to consider which A Levels or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme might suit them best or whether they should be looking for an apprenticeship option outside Leighton Park.
Year 11 student, Calder, found his interview helpful, reflecting, “The most important piece of advice is that my A Level choices are subjects that I’m good at and enjoy. I think the Morrisby Tests are good and I think they should be done more often as they seem to be quite accurate in terms of people’s preferences and job interests. Following the interview and the advice that I received, I plan to take English, History and Business for my A Levels and in the future I would like to have a career in journalism or law.”
Sally Saunders, Head of Careers, added, “Students have had the opportunity to meet with an external careers advisor who can provide advice and guidance on the full range of options available to them at Leighton Park and beyond. It has been pleasing to see the different courses and careers students are considering and Morrisby allows then to explore these through a one to one interview and a personalised report in addition to the online portal.”
