On Wednesday 3rd December, our Drama Scholars across all year groups took part in a Multimedia Workshop in the MMC Media Room and Drama Studios. Over the course of the day, scholars got to enrich their skills to perform for camera, audio and multimedia productions.
This workshop offered our scholars the opportunity to explore a variety of skills to enhance their breadth of experience and capabilities. Some key elements included voice work for radio and voice over, creating audition tapes with evaluative feedback, and performing for the camera both independently and together.
When reflecting on the workshop, Dan (Year 9) said: “I’ve always liked working with media and having this experience of working with cameras has been great! Auditions can be a difficult process, you are creating your own character, and need to decide who the person is that you are showing: what are their mannerisms and characteristics? So, this workshop has been very important for helping me prepare for that as well!”
Jessica Wittert van Hoogland, Director of Drama, enthused: “One of the Department’s key goals is to develop and enhance our Drama Scholars’ program. I want to create a nurturing and equally challenging environment for our students where they are given opportunities to explore a range of styles, genres and theatre experiences. This workshop has provided a brilliant opportunity to enhance their skills in performing in an increasingly media influenced world, which is invaluable experience!”
This was a great chance for all our drama scholars to get to know each other better and connect over their shared passion. Not only that, but it also prepared them for potential careers and professional success in the arts, all whilst celebrating arts at Leighton Park.
