Music at the Heart of LP

This week’s Lunchtime Piano Concert in the MMC Foyer was a wonderful celebration of musical talent and creativity. Students from across the school treated audiences to a diverse programme of pieces, demonstrating both technical skill and artistic flair.

The concert opened with Leonie performing Cloudscapes by Ailbhe McDonagh, followed by James’ lively rendition of Grandview Boulevard Strut by Martha Mier. Jadine charmed listeners with Menuet & Trio by Haydn, and Thomas gave an expressive performance of All of Me by John Stevens and Toby Gad.

Freya captivated the audience with Prelude No. 1 in C BWV 846 from The Well-Tempered Clavier by J.S. Bach, while India impressed with her own original composition, Playing with Stars. The concert concluded beautifully with Gaia’s performance of Rumores de la Caleta No. 6 Op. 71 by Albéniz. These concerts provide invaluable opportunities for students to perform and share their love of music, while developing confidence and stage presence in a supportive environment. At Leighton Park, music is at the heart of our creative community. From day one, students are encouraged to learn, play, compose, and perform. They also have the chance to work behind the scenes using our state-of-the-art recording studio and digital editing suites.

Leighton Park is proud to be the only school in Europe to hold Flagship Yamaha Music Education Partner status, offering exclusive access to professional Yamaha resources, instruments, and workshops. We are also a Steinberg Certified Training Centre, supporting excellence in music technology, composition, and production, and a Sontronics Education Partner, giving our students the chance to use world-class microphones, the same models used by artists such as Ed Sheeran and Adele at Abbey Road Studios.

Not only do we encourage Music as a skill but as a wellbeing tool. Our Sound for Soul initiative explores the connection between music and wellbeing, helping students harness the power of music to support mental health, emotional expression and resilience.

Scholarships and Bursaries:

Through the Austin Bursary Awards and Music Scholarships, Leighton Park recognises exceptional musical ability and offers financial support to help students thrive. Our scholarships offer a range of 5-30% off the day fee. Scholars enjoy benefits from a package of support with exclusive access to facilities to help them develop further. If affordability is a limiting factor for families then they should look at our Bursaries, which offer means-tested awards.
