Vivian (Year 10), one of our celebrated Music Scholars, was delighted to learn of her success in the recent Independent Schools Association competition for Musical Theatre. Vivian won the KS4 category with her powerful rendition of ‘Requiem’ from Dear Evan Hansen, beating stiff competition to claim the title.
Vivian’s award follows that of Megan White who last year won the KS5 category in the same class whilst in the Upper Sixth. Rosemary Scales, Director of Music, described the news as ‘fantastic!’.
The Independent Schools Association encourage entries from soloists and duets, looking for that perfect combination of musical and dramatic skills in each performance. As entries were submitted virtually this year Vivian’s recording took place in Main Hall and was enjoyed by the judges on video. The ISA commented, “Well done to all the performers who took part in the competition this year and congratulations to the winners. With 200 entries and such a high standard throughout, the judge was really impressed with the amount of thought and effort that went into each performance.”
