Our new joiners in Year 7 and 8, Year 10 and the Lower Sixth plus all of our Year 9s were on the Park in force on Wednesday 4th September for our 2024 Newcomers’ Day.
Time was spent meeting new tutors, exploring the beautiful 65 acres of parkland in the sunshine and getting to know each other. Alongside the sharing of information about the co-curricular options, sports, the Quaker ethos and a welcome from the Head, Matthew Judd, students familiarised themselves with academic expectations, the new whole school Library, and the Leighton Park IT systems as the new devices were handed out.
There was plenty of fun for the Year 9s as returning students welcomed new joiners for an inflatable extravaganza, rounders games, football skills sessions and a Quaker-themed treasure hunt in competition Houses. Year 7s and 8s experienced a medley of team building games as a year group and in their tutor groups as well as getting set up for the first day of School tomorrow.
The day ended with Fryer families gathered in the Michael Malnick Centre to meet Matthew and Director of Fryer House, Becky Edwards. Year 9 families connected with Head of Year 9, Zoe Macpherson and the Year 9 tutors at the barbeque on Head’s Lawn. Families with students in Year 10 and above eagerly anticipate their respective social events in the coming fortnight.
