Ooh La La: Paris in the Spring!

The opportunity to visit Paris in the (almost) springtime and a trip to Europe’s romantic capital just after Valentine’s Day certainly appealed to many of our adventurous students. The four-day trip combined historic French monuments with modern American appeal as the group enjoyed both cultural sightseeing and the delights of Disneyland.

Leaving on the Dover-Dunkirk ferry on Saturday 15th February the smooth coach journey delivered everyone safely to their destination, pausing only for Isla’s 12th birthday celebrations! The 16th brought a busy day with the group heading off to their first stop, the Musee du Louvre bright and early at 9.00am! We saw the Mona Lisa – a lot smaller than we thought it would be – and other beautiful art pieces.

The Adventure Quest, fuelled by packed lunches, saw everyone exploring the sights taking in the Jardin des Tuileries, the Petit Palais, the Esplanade and Hotel des Invalides and finishing at the Tour Eiffel. Our walk through different monuments was great and we had a really good time learning facts about Paris – who knew that Notre Dame gets more visitors than the Eiffel Tower?!

The River Cruise was an excellent opportunity to rest some weary feet whilst enjoying the view of the city from the Seine. The weather was stunning and the sun was out for our first full day in Paris; glorious!

The sight-seeing for the day concluded with a visit to Tour Montparnasse, the 210-metre office skyscraper from which the Observation Deck offers a 360-degree panoramic visit of Paris. Because the weather was so amazing we could see far ahead and admire the best of the city. We also had access to some VR headsets to learn more about our vista. After so much fresh air, dinner at Les Jardins Contini this evening went down very well!

Monday 17th February was Disneyland Day! All went according to plan with the morning at Disney Studios and the afternoon in the main park. After watching the stunning parade with front row seats (standing!), we went to eat together at the Hyperion Cafe which was a big win for everyone!

Finishing up the trip on Tuesday 18th, the group headed to the Montmartre area where we enjoyed a beautiful view of Paris in the sunshine. We had time to do some souvenir shopping and explore the area a little before joining the coach for our homeward journey back via Dunkirk and Dover.

It was a brilliant trip and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with existing friends, make new ones and to enjoy such a wonderful city.
