A Level Dance students had a fantastic time with independent dance artist, Ellie Stephenson, today who previously trained at the esteemed Rambert Dance Company. Working in collaboration with our students, Ellie choreographed a moody and characterised Quartet inspired by the famous ‘Peaky Blinders’ for their A Level Quartet exam piece.
After a quick pace technique class students began exploring characters inspired by ‘Peaky Blinders’. The extra challenge was learning how to dance with a coat. With Nick Cave’s haunting song ‘Red Right Hand’ the piece promises to be a highlight of Let’s Dance 2025 later in the year. It was beneficial for students to work with a dance artist who is working within the industry and currently touring.
A Level Dance student, Charlotte, commented: “I have really enjoyed using costume to add to the movement style. It has been a really amazing day”; whilst Year 9 student, Issy, who attended the workshop alongside A Level students expressed: “I have really learnt what is expected of me once I start A Level Dance. I can’t wait”.
A Level Dance is a dynamic qualification which encourages students to develop their creative and intellectual capacity, alongside transferable skills such as team working, communication and problem solving. All of these are sought after skills by higher education and employers and will help them stand out in the workplace whatever their choice of career.
