Our Sexuality And Gender Equality (SAGE) group were out in the sunshine on Wednesday 14th June to celebrate Pride Month over an al fresco picnic. Gathered on the grass outside Townson the students enjoyed platters of sandwiches, scotch eggs, fruit and crisps with rainbow cupcakes.
The school’s SAGE group leader commented: “I think it’s really important that we celebrate our diversity and that we encourage our students to come together with our staff and be part of the active community. The picnic is amazing; it’s even better than we’d expected!”
Diversity Officer, Shaun Dellenty, agreed, saying: “We wanted to give the group an opportunity to be together in an environment that we are not normally in as we normally have the group inside. Pride is a celebration and this is a really nice way of marking that celebration. I will remember it for a long time.”
