Scholars’ Award Ceremony 2024

On Wednesday evening, Leighton Park hosted its annual Scholars’ Award Ceremony, a prestigious event dedicated to recognising the achievements and potential of our newly appointed scholars. Held in the Upper Foyer of the MMC and Main Hall, the event brought together scholars, their families, and staff for an evening of celebration and recognition.

Attendees enjoyed light refreshments before the formal proceedings began. The evening featured speeches from senior staff, including Alex Wallace, Deputy Head of Academic Studies. Reflecting on the school’s recent academic successes, Wallace remarked, “What a time to be celebrating scholarship. The school has just achieved the highest A Level results, and GCSE Value Added results place us just above the top 1% in the country. These are excellent times. We are immensely proud of the hard work the whole staff have put in to achieve such results this summer, but the hard work and resilience shown by our LP students is quite inspiring. And this evening we are joined by the very best of you. All of you in this room have shown tremendous dedication, resilience, and talent in recent years, and I am delighted to share this event with you.”

The evening continued with awards presented by the Heads of Department, who each spoke about the scholars in their respective fields. They highlighted the outstanding dedication and potential of these students, stressing that this recognition is only the beginning of their journey. Each scholar was praised not only for their current accomplishments but also for the promise they hold for the future.

Additionally, several Upper Sixth students were awarded Oakleaf Diploma Gold Certificates, having completed the program to the highest standard. The Oakleaf award is designed to equip Sixth Form students with essential life skills, such as financial literacy, cooking, CV writing, and interview practice, all of which prepare them for adult life beyond school.

Leighton Park offers a wide range of scholarships to celebrate excellence in a variety of disciplines, including Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Sport, STEAM, and Ethical Enterprise. Additionally, the David Lean Awards were presented to students who achieved exceptional GCSE results, specifically seven or more grades at 7 or above in the summer’s public examinations.

This annual event underscores the importance of nurturing talent, both within the school and beyond, as our scholars continue to grow and make significant contributions to their fields of expertise.
