The annual Scholars’ Award Ceremony was enjoyed on Wednesday 20th September, celebrating Leighton Park’s 2023-24 Scholars. The event brought together new scholars, their parents and guardians, the school’s leadership team and several Heads of Department in recognition of the students’ achievements and talent.
Guests experienced a warm welcome with canapés and refreshments and a harmonious ambience created by Daniel (Year 10) playing the cello and Lewei (Upper Sixth) playing the piano.
Leading the ceremony was Alex Wallace (Academic Deputy Head), with Head, Matthew Judd, presenting the awards. The Heads of Department for Art, PE, Music, Dance, Drama, Sport, and STEAM each spoke in turn, keen to recognise the success and skill of the students present, in addition to their continuous hard work and enthusiasm.
Students who performed exceptionally well in their GCSEs this Summer, achieving seven Grade 7s or more in the 2023 public examination series, were also recognised for their academic prowess. Each student received the David Lean Award and were congratulated and acknowledged for their incredible work and results.
Leighton Park offers scholarship opportunities to those entering Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form. The scholarships available include Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Sport, STEAM and Ethical Enterprise, with the latter two typically Sixth Form only awards. Each scholarship carries a range of awards from a remission of up to 30% of the Day fee to an Honorary Scholarship with less fiscal but educationally valuable benefits.
