Sensational Soloist’s Concert!

The programme for the Spring Term Soloists’ Concert was an eclectic mix of music, designed to delight, inspire and move the audience. There were pieces for the drums, harp, electric and acoustic guitars, violins, piano, cello, oboe, clarinet, trombone and of course, voice. The performances included numbers from musical theatre, classical composers, jazz and original compositions and were delivered with confidence and joy.

With viewers watching the livecast online as well a physical audience in the Foyer of the Michael Malnick Centre, our musicians coped admirably playing to both screen and small crowd.

Finn (Lower Sixth) who performed ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’ his own composition on piano and voice, reflected, “It felt alright and wasn’t too nerve wrecking. Music at Leighton is great; there are so many talented musicians to collaborate with and the relaxed atmosphere of the Music department makes it easy to work.”

Sam (Lower Sixth) who sang ‘The Room Where it Happens’ from Hamilton enthused, “It felt amazing to perform in front of a live audience after such a long time. I really enjoyed it and I look forwards to being able to perform again! I think music at LP is wonderful with many great and talented musicians. The teaching staff really help to make this happen and it is awesome to be a part of it!”
