The annual Easter Ski Trip took place from Sunday 24th March to Saturday 30th March this year with our enthusiastic skiiers hitting the slopes in Alpendorf, close to Salzburg in the spectacular surroundings of the Austrian alps.
With a flight at a civilised 1pm take off from Gatwick the group were pleased not to have to brave a dawn start so close to the end of a busy term. Their energy was conserved for the fun at the resort as they got stuck into a week of intense skiing in three groups; beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Some students found the lessons provided very helpful whilst others were free to explore the mountains with their guides tackling some impressive runs without much of a refresher. Everyone regrouped for lunches up the mountainside across the week and the evenings were filled with relaxed entertainment including swimming, bowling, table tennis, football and of course plenty of dinner to refuel after so much al fresco exercise!
Oliver (Lower Sixth) enthused: “My favourite thing about the trip was playing football in the evening with the teachers. Apart from football and the skiing we went swimming, had a quiz night and had a mini Olympics. And lots of sleeping. Overall, it was a really fun experience that I had never done before. I would really recommend going on a school trip with your friends in the future.”
It was a great way to spend the Easter break with the group returning just in time for Easter Sunday celebrations and bringing with them sufficient supplies of delicious Austrian chocolate!
