Monday 1st July marked the final house event of the year with the Sports Day 2024! The annual Track and Field Athletics Championships took place once again at Palmer Park Sports Stadium. It was a wonderful event full of noise and colour with some incredible performances.
The day’s events included Javelin, Discus, Long Jump, High Jump, and a variety of running distances, including a teacher’s race! Each House competed in every event, dressed in their house colours and smeared with stylish face paint. The community spirit erupted with banners, music, and dancing to cheer on fellow teammates.
Seven school records were broken on the day: two by Mia in the junior girls 200m and Long Jump, Youssef in the junior boys 200m, Charlotte in the senior girls 200m, Alice in the junior girls High Jump, the junior girls Cadbury relay team, and Harry in the junior boys High Jump, soaring to 1 meter 80 centimeters and beating the school record held since 1977!
The individual winners on the day were Sam, Darcy, and Abi for Fryer House. In the junior competition, the winners were Mia and Harry, while in the senior competition, the winners were Rebecca and Zeb.
The ‘Spirit of Sports Day’ award was once again won by Tubman for amazing participation numbers and non-stop singing! Once all the races were completed, the results were collated and announced at Final Collect on Wednesday. Well done to Cadbury, who were the overall winners of this year’s Sports Day.
