Sports Day

On Monday 27th June, Sports Day got off to a strong start with students competing in the field events; long jump, high jump, discus and javelin, as well as the 1500m. With the arrival of a summer downpour into the afternoon, a rain check was taken to finish what had been started the following Monday.

Not put off by the previous week’s poor weather, parents and supporters turned up to cheer students on their way in the finals and track events, and the PSC were as popular as ever manning the refreshments desk. Whether as a star athlete or splendid supporter, the afternoon began the week on a high.

Individually awarded for their efforts were Mia in Year 7 who picked up maximum points in her events, Youssef (Year 8), Casper (Year 9), Charlotte (Year 10) who placed first in six events, Tilly (Lower Sixth) and Albie (Lower Sixth).

In Final Collect, Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury, was pleased to announce Cadbury House as the Fryer winners, and Field House as the Senior school winners.

“It was great to see so many students representing their house for what will be the last time in its original format. There were some excellent individual performances with two school records broken by Mia in the Year 7 Long Jump and by Ted in the Senior Shot Put. It is always good when the competition is close, and this was particularly evident in the Junior and Senior competitions with Field winning both by just four points and three points respectively. I am already looking forward to next year’s competition under the new House format at Palmer Park Athletics Stadium.” reflected Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury.
