This year, students were challenged to prove their endurance as they took part in a week of pentathlon events, in lieu of their usual Sports Day.
Monday 22nd – Friday 26th June marked National School Sports Week. Together with the Youth Sport Trust, Leighton Park tested their power, coordination, agility and resistance with long jumps, Anderson ball catches, timed skipping, burpees and a one-mile best effort run.
By completing the five different events as best they could and sharing the evidence, students gained points towards the sought-after Fryer House Sport Trophy and Senior Houses’ Richard Coleman Shield.
Director of PE, Sport and Wellness, Jez Belas instructed students, “We’re testing a number of different physical and mental attributes. Five events – do as many of them as you can! Keep on moving, we’re nearly at the end of term and it’s been great seeing some of you over the last couple of days and continuing to see your work over Google Meet.”
Students’ will be recognised for their efforts during Final Collect on Wednesday 1st July, where the School community will have the opportunity to gather together remotely and celebrate these achievements.
