The Summer Term’s soloist concert hosted a plethora of musical talent and style. From Classical to Musical Theatre to original compositions, the evening was packed with creative flair. There were pieces for voice, viola, piano, guitar; both acoustic and electric; and drums.
Despite exams being firmly under way, many of our musicians who have been sitting public examinations performed at the concert, and demonstrated great skill and resilience in doing so.
Sian Davies, (Lower Sixth) who sang a German operatic piece ‘Zur Rosenzeit’ reflected, “I was a bit nervous, especially because I was singing a piece in German, but it went well, and everyone was really supportive.”
In the Summer Term, the Music Department preps for the long-awaited return of House Music. “Now that exams are coming to an end and the Soloist Concert is done, everyone is looking forward to House Music. It’ll be great fun, and good to feel even more of the House spirit again.”
