Year 7 Activities Week

Year 7’s 2023 Activity Week has been a STEAM filled adventure in Belgium! After a first day combing technology and chocolate at Technopolis and Concept Chocolate, the group got stuck into Bowlmaster where they discovered that Sam Bower’s hand-eye coordination on the rugby pitch, also proves useful in a bowling alley, making him the reigning champion to beat!

Midweek, Year 7 ventured to Walibi Theme Park with dozens of attractions to entertain thrill seekers and the tamer member of the group. Head of Fryer, Adrian Stewart, commented “We all loved the theme park – short lines and great rides!”

Saving the best day trips for last, the group witnessed the Dinosaur Hall – the largest museum hall in the world, at the Museum of Natural Science, and then experienced Mini-Europe where Bonsai trees, flowery groves and dwarf trees embellish 350 monuments which have been reproduced at a scale of 1/25.

As part of their sightseeing Year 7 also had the opportunity to behold the Atomium, a building originally designed and built for the Brussels World’s Fair in 1958. With the slogan ‘a world for a better life for mankind’, it has become a symbol of peace among all nations, of faith in technical and scientific progress and an optimistic vision of the future. Finally, at The Brussels Planetarium, students enjoyed a 360 degree representation of the starry sky.
