Day 1:
After a lovely Oakview lunch, we loaded our bags, boarded the coach and were on the road. Everyone was in great spirits and excited for what was to come!
Upon arrival, everyone settled into their tents and enjoyed downtime in the evening sun. Pizza for dinner, choosing toppings and watching them be cooked in the pizza ovens accompanied by waffle fries! We also celebrated a 13th birthday with a gorgeous chocolate cake. A successful first evening excitement for the fun to begin tomorrow.
Day 2:
A wet and wild day with half the group starting at the Mud Trail and half at the beach on a lifeguard course! Students literally threw themselves into each and every challenge with the end result varying between head-to-toe mud and salty fresh peppered in soft, fine sand. Everyone had shown lots of leadership characteristics and learnt new lifesaving skills. The beautiful weather and stunning scenery made it an extra fantastic day for Year 8.
They enjoyed a lovely pasta dinner in the evening, followed by an evening walk in the woods and lots of games. Everyone slept extremely well!
Day 3:
On the final day, we packed up our camping area and gathered for the final time as Year 8 for some quiet reflection before moving on to our final activities of the residential. Students took on high ropes and target games! The high rope activities consisted of the leap of faith, Jacobs ladder and crate stacking and climbing; but who was feeling the bravest!?
Lots of challenges for all, with students showing great resilience, empathy, teamwork and respect. Tag archery was very competitive, with everyone pulling together for the various team events. High ropes saw many being pushed out of their comfort zone to overcome their fears of climbing to steady heights.
